The 2016 holiday season will be remembered as the emergence of the drone as the 'must have" gift. A recent survey by Saint Leo University says that 1 in 5 people say they would like to receive a drone for Christmas, and approximately 1.2 millions are expected to given a gifts this holiday season.
Those numbers are backed up the the Consumer Technology Association which says drone sales over Christmas 2016 will more than double 2015. The FAA claims that 2.5 million drones will be sold in 2016, more than twice as many as last year.
The Saint Leo University poll data showed that 70% of respondents support the use of drones by the military as a good alternative to ground force deployment. The poll also showed strong support for drone use by local police departments.
