FLIR Systems has unveiled a new dual HD and thermal imaging camera system for small unmanned aircraft systems. Called the FLIR Duo, this compact dual-sensor thermal imager is a great entry-level payload for non-professional users who want to start experimenting with thermal imaging capabilities.
The FLIR Duo is a compact, lightweight, dual-sensor thermal and visible light imager designed for drones. The same size and shape as the most popular action cameras, Duo offers powerful features like on-board recording and real-time remote control of camera functions over PWM - plus MSX multi-spectral imaging enhancement. Duo also comes with a fully radiometric variant called Duo R that delivers accurate, calibrated temperature measurements in every pixel.
Duo combines thermal imaging with 1080p color video in the popular action camera size and shape. Its analog and digital HDMI live video outputs let you view thermal or visible imagery alone, or combined in MSX or Picture-in-Picture format. Duo R adds calibrated radiometric temperature measurements on top of all this.
According to the company, the FLIR Duo offers versatile onboard recording to a micro SD card and real-time remote control of camera functions. In addition, it can be mounted to any airframe capable of holding a typical-size action camera, says FLIR. Operators can also switch between the FLIR Duo’s thermal and visible cameras in flight or view both in a picture-in-picture mode.
The FLIR Duo R, available for $1,299.99, adds accurate temperature measurement capabilities for commercial applications, such as agriculture, construction, civil engineering, building inspection and public safety, says FLIR.
Both the FLIR Duo and Duo R are available to order via FLIR partners and at www.flir.com/suas/duo.
