SUMMARY: The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is planning to use unmanned aerial systems (UAS), or drones, for the construction of the upcoming Metro rail corridors in the city. The use of unmanned aerial systems will track the process quickly and will collect data that can be use for future planning.
PROBLEM: During a construction process, it is difficult to include finer detail, such as distance between buildings and the road, as well as route hindrances, like tree, telephone lines and wires, when performing a land surveys. Also, sometimes residents around the area of constructions claim to own more land so they can get more compensation.
SOLUTION: Conducting a separate aerial survey, the MMRDA can obtain all detailed information through a single picture or video. Also, with drones capturing up-to-date data, the MMRDA will have proof and evidence when the structures are affected by residents around the area.
