TOM "OATY" OATMEYER
Tom "Oaty" Oatmeyer is a professional aviator with over 28 years of operational experience in both the local and international arena. As a former Air Force Pave Hawk rescue helicopter pilot, he has a proven track record leading teams in highly complex and dynamic tactical missions.
Mr. Oatmeyer has extensive experience in disaster response and relief, demonstrated during the aftermath of hurricanes Katrina, Floyd, and Andrew where he is credited with saving over 150 lives, as well as Hurricane Irma where he piloted Airborne Response UAS during response and recovery operations.
Currently, Oaty serves an aircraft commander with Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Air South piloting the unit's Bell 412 rescue helicopter. He is well-versed in applying the latest crew resource management and risk assessment techniques to ensure each mission has a successful outcome. Tom has extensive experience researching, absorbing, and synthesizing federal regulations with operation requirements.
As a prior training officer, Mr. Oatmeyer developed curriculums that ensured training matched the objectives of federal regulations with operational program goals.
"Oaty" holds Remote Pilot, Airline Transport Pilot (Helicopter), Flight Instructor and Instrument Flight Instructor (Helicopter), and Commercial Pilot and Commercial Instrument Pilot (Airplane) FAA certificates. He graduated from the University of Florida with a B.S. in Accounting.
